We are right in the thick of the summer wedding season here at Hog Roast Long Marton. From about May to September most of our time as a caterer is occupied by weddings. With the sun shining and the days staying nice and dry it is the best time to bring together friends, family, for the most special of get togethers. It’s great for the memories, the photos, and even the dining too!
Last week the Hog Roast Long Marton team were delighted to join Andy and Hannah for their special day in Long Marton. The lovely couple had booked out the splendid venue of Ghyll Barn, bringing 80 of their friends and family to the idyllic countryside venue, just less an hour’s drive away from Carlisle, to celebrate their loving matrimony.
Weddings can be long days, so it was decided early that our dining would help to break up the day and ensure that everyone had more than enough to keep on going right through the afternoon and long into the night. To that end, we began with a special antipasti grazing table to greet guests immediately after the ceremony. This is a great time for photos and congratulations, so something easy for guests to come and pick at is always a good choice. Plus, with the arrangement of our grazing tables it also makes for an excellent backdrop to add to the day some more!
Guests then took to their seats for the speeches and dinner. Our southern slow roast cooked right up to the moment the traditional speeches were finished, allowing each dish to really get the most out of its flavour and keep everything hot and tender for serving. With options of BBQ pork butt, Cajun spiced chickens, Texan beef brisket, mac and cheese, slaw, sweet and regular potato fries, and veggie grilled veg and halloumi skewers, it was an almighty feast for such a special occasion.
But the dining didn’t stop there! With the arrival of the evening guests and more than a few drinks and dances shared, the Hog Roast Long Marton team then finished off our service with bacon and sausage sandwiches – a favoured buffet top up to keep the night’s festivities going!
