If you thought hog roasts were just for weddings and milestone birthday parties, think again! This time-honoured cooking tradition has been making waves in the Northern UK events scene and has proven to be an increasingly popular choice for celebrations and functions of all kinds.
Just last week, Hog Roast Armathwaite had the privilege of catering for an art exhibition in a neighbouring town, celebrating the works of up-and-coming local artists. Now, you might not immediately associate slow-roasted pork with contemporary art, but trust us – this pairing was a masterpiece in its own right!
Being chosen for this event was a huge honour, and we worked closely with the event organiser, Molly, to craft a menu that was both practical and elegant. With guests circulating throughout the venue, she wanted a meal that was easy to eat on the go but still had a refined touch. We got to work, proposing a delightful spread that included welcome drinks, elegant canapés, hearty mains, and a selection of sumptuous sides. Molly was thrilled, and we couldn’t wait to bring her vision to life.
Hog Roast Armathwaite dedicated the entire afternoon to preparing what would become an unforgettable dining experience. Guests were first greeted with glasses of bubbly and a selection of beautifully presented canapés – smoked Scottish salmon, mini quiches, mini pizzas, chicken liver parfait, and chicken satay skewers.
After indulging in the nibbles and mingling with fellow art lovers, guests soon found themselves eagerly anticipating the main event. Right on cue, Hog Roast Armathwaite unveiled the pièce de résistance: a 50-50 split of gourmet sausages and handmade beef burgers, alongside our signature traditional hog roast, complete with crispy crackling, sage and onion stuffing, and tangy applesauce. For the vegetarians and vegans, we served up vibrant grilled veggie and halloumi kebabs with tzatziki dip and sweet chilli sauce. Everything was designed to be delicious, visually appealing, and easy to enjoy while admiring the artwork.
To round things off, we presented an array of artistically plated vacherins of strawberries with passion fruit cream and stunning tarte au citron. They were as much a feast for the eyes as they were for the palate, drawing just as many admiring glances as the paintings on the walls.
With Hog Roast Armathwaite at the helm, this event wasn’t just a showcase of artistic talent – it was a culinary masterpiece, too!
