Well folks, summer is officially over – the ‘ber months have arrived! Wind, rain and hail are sweeping the UK at the minute, but that’s not stopping Hog Roast Ulverston from doing what we love. All year round, our mission is to help people elevate their events with wholesome, delicious scran that hits the spot and we’re not going to let bad weather get in our way.
Over the weekend, we packed up our van and trundled off to Silverholme Manor for a wedding afterparty. The brave couple had opted for an alfresco-style feast on the lawns of the luxurious Georgian estate, with incredible views of Lake Windermere sprawling out before them. Unfazed by the stormy clouds pooling overhead, Hog Roast Ulverston quickly set up our gazebo and got to work on the menu.
By 1pm, the grass was squelchy, the sky was an angry shade of grey and a biting chill hung in the air. But that didn’t stop this group from celebrating! Donning their raincoats and cosy jumpers, the 170 wedding guests gathered with smiles on their faces, ready to get stuck into the aromatic spread Hog Roast Ulverston had spent all morning preparing.
Just as we had hoped, our hog roast sandwiches, comprising succulent pulled pork, crackling, stuffing and applesauce on gluten-free or wholemeal buns were the perfect soul-warming treat that acted like a warm hug from within. We also had ultra-juicy marinated chicken thighs on the go, served steaming hot and packed with flavour, which no one could say no to. On the side we had mixed salad, tomato and mozzarella salad, coleslaw and freshly made sweet potato and classic chips with a sauce selection, which allowed each guest to customise their plates.
For those steering clear of meat, our catering manager, Sam, made sure our grilled vegetable skewers were just as tasty. Packed with freshly cut veg and optional halloumi chunks, this vegetarian alternative went down a storm (excuse the pun!).
The weather might have been a washout, but this event certainly wasn’t! Thanks to Hog Roast Ulverston, everyone came together in celebrating the happy couple and had a brilliant afternoon!
