The other weekend, Sam and the Hog Roast Coniston crew were back at one of our favourite spots – The Mountain Cottages in Coppermines Valley, Coniston – to cater for Rebecca and Daniel’s wedding. We’re lucky to have catered here a few times now, so we know exactly where to set up our stall for the best views over the valley. And trust us, the scenery alone is enough to make you want to stay for a slice of cake… or three.

The day kicked off with a chilled-out Antipasti spread. Guests were wandering around, chatting, picking at the boards, and soaking up the views. It’s one of those moments where you step back and think, “yep, this is why we love what we do.” Everyone seemed so relaxed and happy – perfect vibes for the start of a wedding.
For the main course, the couple went with our Menu 3, which is basically a bit of everything that makes people smile. There were beef burgers, 15 portions of Thai chicken kebabs, and, of course, mac and cheese – because some things just have to appear at a wedding. On the side, we had a mix of sweet potato fries and regular fries with salt, vinegar and plenty of sauce options, plus roasted new potatoes, and for our veggie and vegan guests, veg and halloumi skewers (halloumi left out for the vegans, naturally).
If you’ve got a sweet tooth then our dessert menu would have hit the spot! Guests were treated to Hog Roast Coniston’s handmade individual cheesecakes, chocolate torte, and tarte au citron with fresh cream on the side.
Everything was served buffet-style on our wooden crockery and cutlery. It keeps things relaxed, looks great, and lets everyone grab what they want at their own pace.

By the end of the day, everyone was full, happy, and laughing. Rebecca and Daniel’s wedding had that perfect mix of intimacy, laughter, and amazing food – the kind of day that makes you go home feeling a bit warm and fuzzy. And honestly, Hog Roast Coniston can’t wait for our next excuse to get back to the Coppermines Valley. It really never gets old.
