For us caterers, December can feel like its own kind of Olympic-level sport. Okay, we might not be tossing javelins or sprinting the 100m – sometimes it feels like it though – but each day brings a new set of challenges and we’re always working hard to beat our last performance. And, honestly? We wouldn’t change it for the world! So, when H H Celcon dropped us a message with a challenge worthy of the festive season we said yes right away.
They’ve asked us to cater not one, but four events. Yes, four. All within a handful of days. For anyone else that might sound like a tall order, but for Hog Roast Goole? That’s the sort of thing that gets us lacing up our aprons with genuine enthusiasm.
If you’re not familiar with H+H, they’re the clever folks behind Celcon Blocks – you know, the building products used by some of the UK’s biggest homebuilders? They’re all about sustainability and energy-efficient homes, but just like the rest of us, they also appreciate a seriously good plate of food.
So between the 8th and 12th of December, Hog Roast Goole will be rolling into their Heck & Pollington Lane premises ready and raring to serve up a bespoke version of our Festive Menu. This means we’ll be preparing hot pork and juicy turkey sandwiches, stuffed to the brim with homemade sage and onion stuffing and either applesauce or cranberry sauce. The kind of sandwich you need two hands for – the best kind, really.
For the non-meat eaters, Hog Roast Goole is bringing out the big guns: grilled vegetable kebabs with optional halloumi, tzatziki, sweet chilli sauce and flatbreads, plus BBQ-pulled jackfruit sliders topped with crunchy plant-based slaw.
And because no winter feast is complete without something hearty on the side, we’ll be dishing up roasted baby new potatoes with plenty of rich gravy. To finish, guests will tuck into our homemade mince pies with warm brandy cream. After all, it just wouldn’t be a December celebration without them, would it?
