Hog Roast Cleveleys goes vegetarian

hog roast CleveleysHog Roast Cleveleys had a different and exciting menu for a repeat customer. Penny wanted to spice things up for her staff after recently deciding to go vegetarian for a month. Going vegetarian for the month had broadened Penny’s senses to new foods, spices and flavours so she wanted her fellow colleagues to share the same experience. Hog Roast Cleveleys is a trusted supplier at Penny’s company, and she originally chose Hog Roast Cleveleys on the principle that they always provided a vegetarian and vegan option in their menu’s. Between Hog Roast Cleveleys’s catering manager James and Penny, they decided on a mega veggie meal.

One option was a mixture of different falafels served with small pittas and different flavours of hummus. James made simple yet delicious falafel with chickpeas, onions, garlic and a handful of spices and herbs and then some that were sweet potato based and others that used beetroot. A rainbow triumph of flavour for sure! The sweet chilli and caramelised onion hummus went down particularly well with the staff.

James encouraged the usual Hog Roast Cleveleys vegetarian option as he always gets compliments and who does not like halloumi?! Halloumi and a medley of Mediterranean vegetables are skewered, with a sprinkling of spice on top and grilled. It is then served in a tortilla wrap and recommended with sweet chilli sauce although, yoghurt and mint sauce goes just as well!

Hog Roast Cleveleys served some vegan burgers and Jackfruit in vegan-friendly brioche rolls. The jackfruit was cooked with multi-coloured peppers and sweetcorn in a BBQ sauce. The vegan burgers were chickpea-based, similar to the falafel. For added texture a mixed salad and coleslaw could be added either on the side or in the wraps and rolls.

Hog Roast CleveleysAs some people may have been disheartened with the absent meat, Penny included desserts as well. She opted for the fluffy and sweet profiteroles and the zesty and fresh lemon tart. Both served with winter berries and the option of cream. The lemon tart was vegan-friendly.

Penny and James received many compliments with the food, surprising many people that vegetarian food can be flavourful and delicious!
