Hog Roast Ravenglass Attended A Writing Festival!

The Hog Roast Ravenglass team were on top form last week after being invited to cook up one of our signature slow roasts at a community writing festival nearby!

The free-entry event welcomed aspiring writers to come along and take part in a variety of workshops covering all sorts of topics, including fiction, script writing, poetry, novels, memoirs, short stories and self-publishing. The festival also included an informative talk, followed by a Q&A session with a best-selling novelist, plus there was also a writing competition, with vouchers up for grabs for the crowned winner.

Unsurprisingly, this event had garnered interest from writing enthusiasts far and wide, who all descended upon the venue with the hopes of improving their writing chops and showing off their way with the written word. And as with any event, the guests soon found their stomachs rumbling, so it was a good thing that our Hog Roast Ravenglass team was on hand to feed the famished artists.

Hog Roast Ravenglass Our team had spent all morning preparing a traditional slow-roasted pig, which had been carefully cooked for several hours over a tray of savoury sage and onion stuffing until the meat was moist and tender. Hog Roast Ravenglass’ catering manager did the honours of carving the full-size hog, separating the crispy crackling exterior from the juicy inside before piling the piping hot meat onto gluten-free and wholemeal rolls with the stuffing and a spoonful of applesauce. The guests were also offered a serving of mixed fries with their hog roast rolls, as well as some Greek salad and coleslaw.

Not one’s to forget about our vegetarian and vegan guests, Hog Roast Ravenglass had cooked up an aromatic batch of our BBQ pulled jackfruit, which was steeped in a smoky hickory sauce and served in a bun with vegan coleslaw.

Our team’s effort paid off at this event – and big time! Each and every one of the guests who attended was blown away by the intense flavours and stunning presentation of the meal, which prompted many to indulge in second helpings or ask our team about the secrets behind our perfect hog roast!
