Welcoming a new addition to the family is always an exciting time for everyone involved. And for Ebony and Caleb, who have been dreaming of expanding their little family for years, seeing the second line appear on a pregnancy test was like witnessing real-life magic.
Time has flown in since then, and the new parents-to-be are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of their firstborn in early April, which means they have less than 7 weeks left to make any final arrangements before their bundle of joy is here. Eek!
Fortunately for them, the couple has a fantastic network of supportive people around who want to help them start their journey into parenthood on the best footing. So, as a surprise for them both, Ebony’s mother, Catherine, pulled everyone together to plan a baby shower in secret. Even with the whole family in on the affair, Ebony and Caleb were still none-the-wiser until Sunday afternoon, when the surprise was finally revealed.
The party was hosted at Catherine’s home, where the whole family had gathered in anticipation of the couple’s arrival. They had each set a present on the gift table, which amassed a mountain of baby supplies and modern-day parenting essentials to help make Ebony and Caleb’s lives that little bit easier. And, because you can’t have a party without great food on the go, Catherine had prepared a table of baby girl themed cupcakes and sweet treats for the occasion, and she had also invited Hog Roast Gatebeck along to serve our Classic Hog Roast Menu to the group.
Hog Roast Gatebeck was ecstatic to be included in the celebration and, by the time Ebony and Caleb arrived, they had successfully whipped up an irresistible banquet of fork-tender pulled pork, deliciously crisp crackling, a tray of savoury sage and onion stuffing, applesauce and fresh salad options.
The couple was at a loss for words when they arrived to see their family and friends gathered with balloons and banners and the Hog Roast Gatebeck team serving generously-filled rolls to the guests from our spot in the back garden. The shock soon wore off when they got a taste of our signature slow roast for themselves, which got the party off to a smashing start!
