Friday saw the hog roast team turn up at Grayrigg – just north of Kendal – with a cold icy wind blowing down off the snow caped fells to greet us whilst we unloaded our equipment near the Coronation Hall – hog roast Grayrigg provided a slow roasted Hog Roast accompanied with new potatoes and fresh salads, with a homemade pasta bake to satisfy the vegetarians – the event was the annual dinner for the local mountain rescue team and they were showing a slide show from there training days which included practicing doing river rescues – which had proved to be very relevant this winter with the floods and subsequent rescues in Cumbria and the use of tracker dogs to search for people lost in the snow – so after having a good feed hog roast Grayrigg left them to enjoy the rest of the evening having a well deserved drink and listening to a local live band set up outside.
