Break Away From The Typical ‘Finger Food’ Buffet Hog Roast Dalston

Here at Hog Roast Dalston we understand the stress that you can be put under when left the catering is left to you. Worrying about soggy sandwiches, flavourless shop bought sausage rolls and dried up crisps that have been sat there for hours – it’s not an ideal situation to be left in. With the added pressure of needing to impress the guests it can sometimes take away the fun factor of hosting the party in the first place. Sandra was in this exact position when she contacted Hog Roast Dalston to enquire about our catering services.

Sandra, initially not sure about what to expect from an outside caterer wanted something different from the usual ‘finger food’ buffet and between her and her husband John, they had decided on a hog roast! They wanted some delicious hot food to feed all of their guests at their anniversary party to be held in Dalston. Sandra was sure that she wanted to please all of her guests, so she sent out invites with RSVP’s for any dietary requirements as she wanted to be extra prepared to ensure everyone could enjoy the food. With 80 guests expected to arrive, we had 4 vegetarians and 2 gluten free guests which wasn’t a problem for us as we always like to make sure there are some vegetarian options available and some gluten free bread rolls. I imagine that there couldn’t be anything worse than arriving at a buffet to find that you can’t eat, we never want anyone to be left hungry and Sandra felt the same!

We arrived nice and early to the venue to set up our hog roasting equipment and start our preparation to be ready perfectly on time for an 8pm serve. Sandra and John had hired a singer for the evening who is very popular around Dalston and very well known for having all the guests up and dancing and having a great time! He specialises in 80’s music (my favourite, I was having a great time too).

We were ready to serve for when the singer took his break, who also was keen to have a hog roast roll! As soon as it was announced that the food was ready the guests lept up and couldn’t wait to get their hands on their hog rolls, the vegetarians equally enthusiastic. With an array of salads for all the guests to choose from at the end of our table it was a very colourful inviting display. Sandra had commented on how fantastic everything looked and even more for the taste! She also said she would never look back at having a ‘finger food buffet’ ever again, especially after it left such a good impression with the guests!
