Celebrating the achievements of women, both past and present, International Women’s Day is a day that calls into focus the challenges women might face as a result of their social, economic, political or cultural backgrounds. This all-important public holiday, which was celebrated for the first time ever in 1975 (almost fifty years ago!), aims to uplift and inspire women of all ages.
In honour of the day, the Hog Roast Roose catering team was invited to serve our Southern Slow Roast Menu at a workshop headed by successful female entrepreneur, Kaitlyn.
As an accomplished business owner from humble beginnings, Kaitlyn’s aim is to help other women chase after their goals too. So she got together with a group of like-minded individuals and put together an event, which featured motivational talks from women who have clawed their way to the top, encouraging speeches from women who have overcome hardships and, for those looking for a new direction in life, education and career-focused panels.
The event also featured a range of stalls that were run by female small business owners in the region, highlighting the importance of shopping locally and supporting other women’s endeavours.
With so much going on and plenty of activities for guests to take part in, it was no surprise that they worked up an incredible appetite at this event. So, it was just as well that Hog Roast Roose had prepared a mouth-watering feast for them to sink their teeth into!
Our catering managers, Craig and Catrina, did a fantastic job of leading the team to victory on this occasion. Serving 500+ guests in just a few short hours is never an easy feat, but they made it look effortless.
Our feast of BBQ pork butt, Texan 24-hour beef brisket, Cajun-spiced whole roast chicken and BBQ-pulled jackfruit buns was packed full of incredible flavours, which the guests simply couldn’t resist – especially when paired with our Memphis-style crunchy coleslaw, mixed sweet potato and regular fries and creamy mac and cheese sides! Yum!
Kaitlyn couldn’t have been more pleased with how smoothly the service was run and was really thankful to Craig, Catrina and the rest of the Hog Roast Roose team for ensuring the event’s success.
