Recently, Hog Roast Ambleside had the pleasure of heading deep into the heart of the Lake District to cater at one of the most enchanting venues we’ve ever seen – The Lancrigg in Grasmere.
Once upon a time, this grand old country house was home to Elizabeth Fletcher and even offered sanctuary to the legendary poet William Wordsworth. You can still feel that creative spirit in the air – it’s got that mix of history, peace and a dash of magic that makes it truly special.
These days, The Lancrigg is a magnet for couples saying “I do,” – and it’s not hard to see why! Shannon and Brett certainly thought so too! They brought together 100 friends and family for a day of love, laughter and some seriously good food (if we do say so, ourselves!).
Yes, as you can probably tell, Hog Roast Ambleside was over the moon to be part of Shannon and Brett’s big day, and we pulled out all the stops to create a wedding menu that was just as unforgettable as the setting.
To kick things off, our team floated around with trays of mouth-watering canapés – think honey and mustard sausages, smoked Scottish salmon, roasted halloumi and tomato crostini, and a silky-smooth pâté. Bursting with colour and flavour, they were almost too pretty to eat. Almost!
With champagne glasses clinking and guests mingling under the soft glow of fairy lights, the atmosphere was electric. Add in the rustic wooden decor and exposed stone walls, the whole space gave off that cosy countryside charm that had everyone feeling right at home.
When it came time for the main course, Hog Roast Ambleside unveiled the buffet we’d spent all morning working on. Featuring a glorious whole hog roast with sage and onion stuffing and applesauce, alongside perfectly roasted sirloin served with red wine gravy and Yorkshire puds, the spread was as impressive to look at as it was to eat. And because we don’t do things by halves, we filled the buffet with plenty of sides – roasted seasonal veggies, tomato and mozzarella salad, and the all-time favourite, a classic Caesar. No one went hungry (we made sure of it).
But the feast wasn’t done yet – quite the opposite, in fact! Hog Roast Ambleside brought this wedding supper to a sweet end with profiteroles and sticky toffee pudding, which everyone seemed very fond of – all that was left was empty plates!
Most importantly, thanks to Hog Roast Ambleside, Shannon and Brett got to simply enjoy every moment. No stress, no worries, just great food and good vibes.
